On the 20th November 1976 Abba's latest single "Money, Money, Money" entered the UK singles chart at number 34 whilst the group's previous single "Dancing Queen" (which reached number 1 back on the 4th September) was still at number 30.
The single continued to move up the chart peaking at number 3 on the 11th December before dropping to number 5 only to move back up to number 3 in the Christmas Day chart at which point the top 5 was as follows -
- "When A Child Is Born" - Johnny Mathis
- "Under The Moon Of Love" - Showaddywaddy
- "Money, Money, Money" - Abba
- "Somebody To Love" - Queen
- "Portsmouth" - Mike Oldfield
Although the single didn't reach number 1 in the UK it did hit the top spot in seven other countries including Australia, France, Mexico and New Zealand.
Whilst looking at some of the cover artwork (which I have to say is probably my least favourite of all of Abba's singles) I noticed that the Italian release was titled "Money, Money" and, even stranger, the b-side was "Knowing Me, Knowing You".
