The latest sheet music I have added to my collection is for Abba's 1977 single "The Name Of The Game".
In the current issue of NME Abba are mentioned in a section titled "Soundtrack Of My Life" featuring the actor Matt Berry.
On the 27th April 1979 Abba released their latest single in the UK "Does Your Mother Know" - the single entered the charts at number 19 then jumped to number 4 where it stayed for 3 weeks.
Whilst sitting at number 3 there were two different number 1's ; "Bright Eyes" by Art Garfunkel (the largest selling single of 1979) and "Sunday Girl" by Blondie.
One of the latest 7" Abba singles I have added to my collection is the Austrian release of "Eagle" - from what I can find out the single entered the Austrian singles chart on 15th July 1978 and peaked at number 17 spending a total of 12 weeks in the charts.
In terms of other Austrian singles only "Summer Night City" (which reached number 18) and "Under Attack" achieved lower chart positions. However to end on a positive note "Nina Pretty Ballerina" peaked at number 8 !
After a recent trawl through some of my old Abba cuttings I found a copy of "Look In" magazine from November 1982 which featured the group on the front cover. The magazine included a two page article celebrating the groups first ten years and the song words for "The Day Before You Came".
The Telegraph and Daily Mail websites both ran stories reporting that "Dancing Queen" topped a poll of the most misheard lyrics - click the images below to jump to the full stories....
The latest music sheet book I have added to my collection is called "Abba The Folio". The book contains the words and music to all of the songs from "Abba The Album" as well as photographs of the group from that period.
On the 17th April 1978 ABBA started filming the video for "Eagle". The single was only released in a handful of countries although it reached number 1 in Belgium and number 2 in South Africa.
On the 16th April 1977 Abba's latest album "Arrival" hit the number 1 spot in the UK album chart where it stayed for 9 weeks. "Arrival" was the biggest selling album of 1977 in the UK and the 11th in terms of total album sales during the 1970s.
The album was also number one in Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and West Germany.
Latest item added to my collection is one of the ABBA goodie bags which were provided during the event at the Tate Modern in London last week.
