April Record Collector Magazine

In the April issue of the Record Collector magazine in the UK there is a six page article on rare ABBA records together with an advert for the 40th anniversary edition of "Waterloo".

Attitude Magazine ABBA Article

In this months edition of Attitude magazine in the UK there is an article mentioning the 40th anniversary of the Eurovision win at Brighton.

ABBA Magazine #28

Issue number 28 of the ABBA Magazine was published in September 1980 and featured a picture of Frida on the cover which looks like it was taken during the filming of "The Winner Takes It All" video.
The two main pieces of news in the editorial section were that the group was gearing up to release their next album ("Super Trouper") and that Mike Oldfield had recorded a cover of "Arrival".

The magazine then detailed a trip to London by Frida, Benny and Bjorn (titled "24 Hours With ABBA") which included attending a Pink Floyd concert, newspaper interviews and a visit to Radio 1 where they were interview by Peter Powell.

UNCUT Magazine Reviews "Waterloo"

After the review of "Waterloo" in "Q" yesterday today it's the turn of another music magazine in the UK "Uncut" to include a review which is shown below...

ABBA Date - 27th March 1976

On the 27th March 1976 ABBA released their latest single "Fernando" in the UK. The single reached the number 1 spot in the singles chart on the 8th May (replacing the Brotherhood Of Man's "Save All Your Kisses For Me") where it stayed until the 4th June.

The single was the 7th biggest selling single of 1976 in the UK in the same year when "Dancing Queen" was the 4th biggest seller. The single also reached number one in a range of countries including Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Mexico and South Africa.

Q Magazine Reviews "Waterloo" Reissue

In the May 2014 issue of "Q" magazine there is a great review of the "Waterloo" album which is re-released next month as part of the 40th anniversary ABBA wining the Eurovision in Brighton.

ABBA Date - 26th March 1978

On the 26th March 1978 ABBA appeared on the UK Saturday morning TV program "Swap Shop" where they won the "Best Group" award for 1978.

Collection Update - Frida CD Single

The latest Frida item to be added to my collection is a "Ogonen" CD single which includes the original album version of the song plus two remixes.

ABBA Magazine #27

The 27th edition of the ABBA magazine was published during August 1980 at which point the main focus was around the latest single "The Winner Takes It All" and the Spanish album "Gracias Por La Musica".
Over seven pages the magazine details the recording of "The Winner Takes It All" and includes pictures of the group in the studio whilst they were working on the song.

ABBA The Treasures Book

I have just received my copy of "ABBA The Treasures" by Ingmarie Halling and Carl Magnus Palm - looks like it should be a good read...

ABBA Date - 21st March 1975

On the 21st March 1975 ABBA appeared on a broadcast of "TopPop" in the Netherlands singing "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" - the performance had been recorded earlier in March when the group also performed "SOS".

Agnetha 12" Maxi Single

Here is a 12" version of Agnetha's single "The Heat Is On" from my collection. The single was released on the Polydor record label in 1983.

ABBA Date - 17th March 2000

In Sweden on the 17th March 2000 a set of stamps featuring ABBA in their Waterloo costumes were issued - I recently added the set to my collection which is shown below.
