ABBA Museum - Part 3

More pictures from my trip to the ABBA Museum - starting off with two tour jackets....

Also in the touring section was a set of the original microphones which were used on stage by the group.

The re-creation if the "Arrival" helicopter was very popular - lots of people waiting in line to sit inside and have their picture taken.

The ABBA puppets I had seen before when the ABBA World exhibition was in London but they are always fun to see...

As an avid collector of ABBA records the next section was of great interest to me - amazing to see quite so many covers which I had never seen before...

Last picture for the update is a presentation celebrating 375,000,000 record sales - quite an achievement...

ABBA Museum - Part 2

Second blog covering my visit to the ABBA Museum last weekend. The picture below is a re-creation of Stig's office...

The next display was based on ABBA's recording studios - in the background the video for "Gimme Gimme Gimme" which was filmed in the actual studio.
Opposite the recording studio was the famous hut on Viggso where Bjorn and Benny wrote many of ABBA's hits.
In the section which covered ABBA across the world a dressing room display was set-up showing where Agnetha and Frida would prepare before going on stage.
The picture below shows a re-creation of the room where ABBA's costumes were created and included a video of some of the famous outfits.
The last picture was of a re-creation of Agnetha's kitchen (after her divorce from Bjorn) - I thought this one was a little odd however when listening to the commentary from Bjorn he said he took the picture (which you can see through the window) of his daughter leaving for school.

ABBA Museum - Part 1

First set of pictures from my visit to the ABBA Museum in Stockholm on Saturday morning. I was a glorious morning in Stockholm (I will post pictures from the city later) so we walked from our hotel to the island where the museum is located.

The picture below is from the room where you wait until your allocated time slot. Upon entering the main display you are first taken into a room to watch a short film showing various clips of ABBA through the ages.

The first main room provides you with some background to each member of the group (the picture below is from the Agnetha section) as well as some of their early music.

You can re-create the Greatest Hits image by placing yourself at the centre of the group.

You then enter an area which talks about "Ring Ring" and the groups attempt at Eurovision in 1973. Included in this area is the telephone which if it rings means that you would be talking to one of the group !

The next area covers "Waterloo" and the Eurovision Song Contest victory in Brighton 1974 - this includes costumes, Bjorn's star shaped guitar and their Eurovision medal.

Stockholm Weekend #1

For our trip to the ABBA Museum we stayed at the Hotel Clarion (the official hotel of the ABBA Museum) which is only a few minutes walk from the main train station.

Once we checked in we headed for the lifts to get to the ninth floor - when the doors opened life sized images of ABBA were wrapped around the walls.

"Dancing Queen" was playing in the lift - and there was a microphone (hanging down next to Bjorn's image) allowing you to join in and sing along with the music.

When you switch on the TV in you room you are greeted by an advert for the museum...
Behind the hotel reception desk, and scattered around the entrance there are various pictures of ABBA.
