Rolling Stone - Agnetha Article

Rolling Stone magazine had an article titled "Rock Stars Who Disappeared" featuring Agnetha - various reasons were provided as to why she "disappeared" however they didn't mention that she is due to release new material in 2013.

Collection Update - Russian Abba The Album

Today I have added a copy of "ABBA The Album" to my collection from Russia. The front cover shows the Polydor record company name together with what appears to be the name of a Russian record company.

The back covers shows the track names in both Russian and English - the tracks are the same of those on the standard release of this album.

This week I finally managed to get a copy of Carl Magnus Palm's book "The Complete Recording Sessions". For any ABBA fan this is a great read as you gain an insight into the process and effort involved in producing those wonderful songs.

December 3rd 1982 - "Under Attack" Released In The UK

On the 3rd December 1982 ABBA released "Under Attack" in the UK - the single peaked at number 26 in the UK charts and was their last new single before the group decided to take a "break".

Collection Update - Russian ABBA The Album

Today I have added a Russian copy of ABBA The Album to my collection. As you can see from the pictures below a version of the original art work was used however with a non standard version of the ABBA logo.

The flip side of the record sleeve shows the track names in both English and Russian. There are no additional tracks to the version of the album available in other countries.

Collection Update - "Ring Ring" from France

This week I have added another copy of "Ring Ring" to my collection - this version is so early that it doesn't even say ABBA on the title - also Agnetha is named Anna and Frida's name is spelt with an "e".

The B side to this version is "Rock'n Roll Band".

15th November 1978

On the 15th on November 1978 ABBA were in America appearing on the Dick Clark show (filmed in Los Angeles) performing a number of songs. As you can see from the pictures below they group wore their classic cat outfits...

Collection Update - "Slipping Through My Fingers"

Here is the latest addition to my collection - "Slipping Through My Fingers" on a one sided 7" single which has a group picture on one side and the Coca-Cola logo on the other. The record is on the Discomate label and "Not For Sale" on the back cover.

November 1979 - ABBA live in London...

On the 9th November 1979 ABBA were on their second last night at Wembley Arena as part of the European leg of the tour.

As you can see from the images above the tickets were £7.50 which seems pretty amazing now when average tickets are round £80.

Collection update - I do, I do, I do, I do, I do

I have just added another copy of "I do, I do, I do, I do, I do" to my collection - this version is on the Polydor record label and has "Rock Me" as the B side.

6th November 1982 ... Agnetha and Benny on Saturday Superstore

On the 6th November 1982 Agnetha and Benny were guests on the UK Saturday morning children's program "Saturday Superstore" whilst Bjorn and Frida were doing alternate promotional work for ABBA The Singles.

As you can see from the pictures guests took telephone calls from viewers who would ask questions live on air.

5th November 1977 - ABBA No 1 in the UK

Today, 5th November, in 1977 ABBA's latest single "The Name Of The Game" hit the number 1 spot in the UK where it stayed until the 3rd December.

The single replaced Baccara's single "Yes sir, I can boogie" at the number 1 spot and was replaced 4 weeks later by Wings "Mull of Kintyre".

Collection Update - Brazil EP

This week I have added two new 7" singles to my collection - the first is an EP on the RCA record label which as far as I can tell is from Brazil. The EP has 4 tracks (Fernando, Mamma Mia, Honey Honey and Hasta Manana) with two songs on each side.

1st November 1980 - Super Trouper Single Released

On the 1st November 1980 ABBA released their latest single "Super Trouper"...

The single hit the number 1 spot on the 29th November (replacing Blondie's "The Tide Is High") and stayed there until 20th December when it was replaced by John Lennon's "(Just Like) Starting Over".

Classic Pop Magazine - Rare ABBA Single..

In the first edition if a new magazine in the UK - "Classic Pop" - there is a section which includes rare singles from the 80s - the first one to be mentioned is a version of "Andante Andante" released in Ecuador.

Collection Update - ABBA The Soap

Sorry for the lack of posts recently however I have been on holiday for three weeks plus I have started a new project at work so I have been fairly busy. However I hope to be able to be back up and running now. Just before I went on leave I added two new items to my collection. The first was a bar of the ABBA soap which was available in the UK around 1978...

The second was a new new bag which will come in handy for storing some of my recent collection additions..

September 11th 1984 - "Shine" released in the UK

On the 11th September 1984 Frida's second English album "Shine" was released in the UK where it peaked at number 67 on the official chart.
